Plate, 6 inches, printed in black with a molded floral border clobbered in pink lustre, blue, green, yellow and orange. The popularity of the London Zoological Gardens, which opened in 1828, generated interest in books, magazines and pottery with scenes of the early zoo. Here, a boy looks at a zebra in its enclosure. Condition of the plate is excellent, with no chips, crack or repairs.
