Manufacturer: Lancaster Colony Corporation
Lovely vintage later mid-century modern (likely 1970's) footed flower pot or planter with a pedestal base. Matte glaze in a darker sage or olive green all-over color. Main bowl has a nicely molded wide vertical rib pattern (sometimes referred to as melon shaped) which cinches in prior to base. There is a thumbprint or impressed pattern on the cinched in portion.

This piece is impressed marked with the manufacturer and style, but it is only lightly imprinted so that it is very hard to read (and does not photograph well, we did the best we could to show that something is there). In person, however, we can make out that this was made by "LLC USA" which stands for Lancaster Colony Corporation (Pottery). It is also marked "Floraline" with style number 401. Lancaster Colony purchased the McCoy molds in 1974, and reissued some McCoy pieces under their LLC mark. Floraline is a mark that McCoy used in the 1940's. So we believe this piece is part of Lancaster Colony's reissue production of McCoy pieces.

Stands about 5 7/8 inches tall with a top diameter of about 5 inches and a top opening diameter of about 4 3/8 inches, standing on a slightly smaller round base with a diameter of about 4 1/4 inches. The sides of the bowl portion bow outward, so the greatest width of this vintage flower pot is about 5 1/2 inches. As with many pottery or ceramic pieces, this piece is heavy for its size, weighing 33 ounces or over 2 pounds unpacked.

We've provided 8 images to show from varied angles. Please note that the camera lighting creates white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Lovely condition out of a home. The only evidence of use we see are many light lines on the interior matte glaze on the lower portion of the bowl which may have been made by something rubbing on this surface. You need bright light to see these, so they are nothing that would be noticed in use or on display. Clean inside and out. No chips, cracks or crazing. There is one spot on the inner top rim that indents like a chip but it is fully glazed over so we believe there was a made in manufacture chip here that they glazed over so nothing to worry about. There are a number of made in manufacture pin/pit dots and glazing pops, some of which show as tiny white pin dots in the glaze. There are two blue small lines on the outer side surface (perhaps someone accidentally used a pen near this piece), a few spots inside and out where the glazing did not fully cover the pottery surface or spots where the glaze was not applied as thickly as elsewhere (so these either appear white or have some white looking through), likely other light wear.

Terrific to use or display in a popular 1960s/70s green coloring.
