This antique Wedgwood blue transferware plate is titled Friar Tuck Entertains the Black Knight. The scene shows the Friar standing and talking to the Black Knight, while the knight eats from a bowl. Standing next to the table are two dogs. The design around the edge has portraits of Coeur de Lion, Rebecca, Isaac of York, Lady Rowenna, and others along with running hares, pheasants, chickens, grouse, fish and flowers. A masterful design! Measures 10" in diameter. Circa 1890. This is in excellent condition. (There was also a lovely set of transferware tiles created with these Ivanhoe scenes.) (#T-1201)
