Very large hand thrown Zanesville Stoneware Co. art pottery overflow vase. It is 15.5 tall. Pick up in MI; no shipping; too large. Age est: 1918-30's. Black overflow glaze. Shape no #108, (incised number on bottom). The same shape number is shown on pg. 121 of J. Rans book, (different glaze); ZSC did a variety of overflow glaze colors. The overflow glazes were made at the end of WWI which was 1918. No chips or cracks; one tiny circular glaze skip. Heavy duty; well-made American pottery. Very nice old piece; the unglazed bottom is quite aged and smooth. I believe it is a hand turned piece; there are horizontal ridges on the exterior and interior of vase and no mold lines, but I could be mistaken. Rare find. ZSC was known for their large garden ware which hotels, restaurants, offices started using indoors as well. 4/11s#
