Manufacturer: PETERS AND REED
This is an offering for an outstanding example of Peters and Reed Pottery! This is an early blended glaze porch jar measuring 23" high and 20-1/2" wide at mid-body. The design is of rose bushes/leaves/berries in relief. The glaze is blue drip over green. Some of the high points on the body are nicked/chipped, as it was probably rolled around when moved. There is a 2-1/4" by 2" 'FERRELL' mark at mid-body. There is a 3" long glaze craze line coming off the rim on the interior. This does not go through the clay body, only the interior glaze. This piece is shown as shape #15 in an early Peters and Reed catalog. Actual cost to crate and ship this item, estimated at $200, to be paid by the purchaser of this fine addition to their collection. |
