Made by Aetna Glass Co., c. 1880. 5" d x 2 ¼" h. to top of ruffle. Amber ruffle, opalescent ribs. This is a large sauce dish. The great thing about this piece is the patent date on the base rim. I believe it reads " Pat’d. Aug. 5, 1876."Ruffles are perfect. A 1/8" surface flake and a small nick appear on the base rim and you can feel areas of unsmoothed roughness on the outside where the ruffle meets the top band of opalescence – I believe this occurred when taking the piece from the mold.
