Condition: Used Size: 4.25 inches Manufacturer: Hemingray
This vintage green glass insulator measures about 4.25 inches high with a bottom diameter of almost 3.25 inches. Glass insulators were first used in the mid 1800s for telegraph lines, and later for telephone lines and electric power lines. The front of this glass insulator is marked Hemingray. The back is marked Patented Oct 8. 1907. Smooth base. There are numerous chips on this threaded insulator. Part of the wood pin still remains inside the insulator. Straw marks and bubbles. Average condition. Glass insulators aren't just for the collector - they work great as desk paperweights or as decorative window planters when hung upside down in a small macrame or shell hanger!
