Manufacturer: Malvern Fire Company
This is a frosted glass mug which is a fire company memorabilia or firefighting collectible piece. Printed in red ink on the mug is "Malvern Fire Co.", followed by the insignia for the fire company, then "Housing & Dedication, Sept. 18, 1982". This was distributed by the Malvern Fire Company in Malvern, Pennsylvania, possibly to dedicate a new station house.
The mug stands about 5 1/8 inches tall with a top opening diameter of about 3 inches, and greatest width to the outside of handle of 4 1/2 inches. The underside base is molded pushed in or inset. Molded into the glass are vertical ribbing or lines on the lower half, like one often sees on beer glasses.
The mug is in overall very nice condition, but it does show wear and is not mint. On the top outer rim there is a low chip, measuring about 3/8 inch in width. It has an all-over whiteish frosting to the glass which sometimes has some unevenness or spotting, but nothing bad. There are a few dark wear or rubbed spots, dots and lines on the outer surface. Other more frequent wear spots and lines show as clear spots/dots/lines on the frosted surface, including clear wear on the vertical ribs. There is expected wear on the underside base on which the piece sits. You will see this wear throughout the piece in places if you look, and so should know it is there, but it is not noticeable when the piece is on display sitting on a shelf and is therefore judged to be expected wear for something which has been used over a 35+ year period.
A very nice firefighting collectible piece which would look great on display as part of a larger collection. Also a nice memento for anyone collecting memorabilia from Pennsylvania or Malvern Township in Chester County, PA. |
