Click for more detail...

15048

Maddux California Pair Swan Planter Figurines My aunt had a pair of these graceful Maddux of California swans in her bathroom when I was a child. Both of hers were black. She had filled one with little pink guest soaps, the other with rolled washcloths. Made in the 1950s, I have one black swan and one white, both with pink highlights. They're about 11 inches high.

The black swan once held water or soil, there's a light sediment line inside. The white swan interior has no sediment or traces of soil. The black swan has a glazed and painted-over nick to the underside of the beak, done during manufacture and visible only when viewed head-on at eye level. There are no chips, hairlines, or crazing. White spots in the photos are reflections.

Circa: 1950

Manufacturer: Maddux of California

15618

Kewpies Royal Rudolstadt Baby Feeding Dish Rose O'Neill This circa 1915 antique porcelain baby feeding dish by Royal Rudolstadt features Rose O'Neill Wilson's lovable Kewpies frolicking in grass. The light green airbrushed dish is a combination of a bowl and high-rimmed plate, designed for babies and young toddlers. It measures 7-3/4 inches diameter by 1-1/2 inches high. It's in near pristine condition with no damage or paint/decal wear, just light wear to the gold rim line and a couple of short craze lines to the glaze on the underside (they are true craze lines, not hairlines or cracks). When viewed at an angle toward light, you can see a few tiny, shallow marks near the center from utensil use, nothing even approaching a scratch. The plate is marked on the bottom with the green Prussia crown B Royal Rudolstadt mark, the same but smaller mark impressed without wording, and "Copyrighted Rose O'Neill Wilson, Kewpie, Germany" stamped under glaze.

1950s Little Boy Football Player Angel Figurine This darling 1950s little boy ceramic angel figurine wears a football helmet and carries a football under one arm. He's going for a touchdown, posed in a running position with his wings raised and his free hand away from his body to the back. Gold shoes peek out from his long white robe decorated with tiny gold flowers, and his wing feathers are tipped in gold as well.

The 4 inch high angel is spotlessly clean with no damage. The only signs of wear are two pinpoints of gold loss at the toe of the front shoe and the heel of the back shoe. His facial features are very well defined and expertly painted down to the lock of hair on his forehead peeking out from below the helmet. The figurine was part of a series of boy character angels made by Fine A Quality of Japan. The blue and silver foil label is on the bottom.

Enesco Kitchen Pixie Salt Pepper Shakers, Candle Holder A set of 1950s ceramic pixie elf salt and pepper shakers, plus a matching pixie "air freshener", part of the Helpful Kitchen Pixies series of kitchen accessories by Enesco. The cute 4 inch tall shakers feature Peter Pan style green-suited pixie elves sitting on mushrooms. Rubber stoppers are present and intact. The pepper shaker has a small chip on the lower side edge.

The candle holder "air freshener" can double as a ring holder. The pixie elf sits cross-legged next to a log tub or planter which holds a green votive candle which I don't think is original. The candle is unlit and the pixie is in perfect condition with no wear or damage. The base is 3-3/4" wide, the pixie about 3-1/4 inches tall. See my other listings for the matching egg timer.

1950s Enesco Kitchen Pixie Ceramic Egg Timer A charming, kitschy 1950s figural porcelain ceramic hourglass egg timer depicting a mischievous pixie elf in a Peter Pan suit leaning against a stump. About 5-1/4 inches tall, it has an elastic cord holding the glass timer in place and a metal clamp to hold a recipe card at the top of the log. The original foil Enesco Japan label is on the underside. The timer was part of a series of "Helpful Kitchen Pixie" kitchenware.

The timer is in excellent condition other than some shelf wear on the unglazed bottom and wear to the label. The elastic should be replaced, or a least re-tied - it's lost some stretch over the years. Any white spots in the pictures are from glare. Just a super piece for the pixie or elf collector! See the matching shakers and ring/candle holder I have listed in my shop as well.
