This is an unusual pair of antique tiles. One depicts a putti playing a cello, and the other depicts a putti (aka cherub) playing a harp. They are created in a brightish green majolica glaze. Each tile measures 8 1/2" high by 4 1/4" wide by 1/2" thick. The sides of these tiles are glazed, and the backs are flat. They are unmarked and are from circa 1880. They are either American or English in origin. The designs are molded in medium to low relief. The condition is generally very good. There are a few minor wears to the higher points and some small edge nips. The harp does have a chip ¾ of the way down. Overall these display nicely and have an unusual and appealing green glaze.
