More Than McCoy

Manufacturer: Hull Pottery Co.
Rare Hull Pottery. Incised mark: U.S.A. 33 5 1/2" which corresponds to the book, pg. 33, 7th edit. by J. Hull. This item is actually 6.25 tall. It is shown in that book as a 'teapot', but there is no lid with this item and it does not have any type of ledge for a lid to fit in the top, so not sure if it was really was supposed to be a watering pitcher vase and someone just stuck a lid on the one shown in the book and said it was a teapot?? I have found the books to be incorrect on many occasions. I really doubt this was supposed to be a teapot; it is the wrong shape for a teapot and it has a rather large opening with no ledge for a lid. The pattern could be open rose, or granada/mardi gras, not sure. It has some flaws: a lot of crazing; some pindots, and it has 2 small hairlines; one on the top area and one on the cross bar area leading to the spout. Both are tight. The other lines are just spider lines, not hairlines. It also has a small depressed whitish area on top rim which looks like a chip in the photo but this is glazed over and is just an imperfection in the clay. Despite all the aging it displays fine on a shelf. Please enlarge and view all photos. The reduced price reflects the flaws. I have only seen one other one on the net and that one sold quite awhile ago and it did not have a lid either. 0/14
