Manufacturer: Vintage Cookie Cutters
This is an antique or vintage tin cookie cutter likely from the 1920s or earlier, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a diamond with a curved metal top handle across the two furthest diamond points . We believe these old tin cutters with top curved handles are older than those made with the wooden handles on top.
It measures about 3 1/16 inches in greatest length which corresponds to the handle, about 2 1/2 inches in width, and sits about 2 3/8 inches in height to the top of the handle. To support that this is a tin piece, not an aluminum one, a magnet does stick to this cookie cutter (magnets won't stick to aluminum). The cutter sides themselves are straight or flat.
Very nice overall antique or vintage condition, believable of its age/wear/use. We see no chips, cracks or bad dents/bends. The handle is firmly attached. When placed on a table, this piece wobbles a bit before settling (the bottom edge is not uniformly flat to the table). The soldering used to hold the metal together is evident on/near two corner points of this piece, and also along the outer top edge near one of these. It looks somewhat shinier or newer on one side, so it is possible that this piece was re-soldered at some point, we're not sure. When viewed from the underside, one diamond edge is not absolutely straight, but curves slightly but not bad and likely from use. This has an overall dark look from age. You don't see tarnishing or tarnished spots, but it is overall dark in color (a dark grey). On the metal there is rust spotting in several places, other spotting, surface wear/dirt, scratches, overall used/worn appearance, other general wear.
Fun cookie cutter that would make a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils. This could also help to complete your collection of cookie cutters in the four playing card deck symbols.
Please note that we have other cookie cutters and many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you). |
