Beautiful and exceptionally substantial antique pressed-glass water pitcher in the Honeycomb pattern, attributed to Gillinder & Sons of Philadelphia. Dating to approximately the late 19th century, this Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) pitcher features a striking repeating honeycomb/geometric design, a deeply molded body, gracefully flared pouring spout, and large decorative handle. The pitcher is remarkably heavy for its size, weighing approximately 3½ pounds, and the glass has wonderful clarity and brilliance. MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 9" tall Weight: approximately 3½ lbs. CONDITION: Excellent antique condition, especially considering its age. I found no chips or cracks. The glass contains several small manufacturing irregularities/lines consistent with early pressed-glass production, including a smooth irregularity on the underside of the base. These are within the glass/from manufacture rather than later chips or breaks. Please see photographs for condition and details. There are no identifying marks on the pitcher. A beautiful and substantial piece of 19th-century American glass that displays wonderfully and would make an excellent addition to an EAPG, Victorian glass, or antique tableware collection.
