This is a nice old 19th century heavy duty .5" (1/2") wide socket firmer chisel marked "THE DOUGLASS NO.1 BEST CAST STEEL" on the steel. It is 12.0" long overall. It has been used but is in very good working order. This chisel is top quality steel, the cutting edge area is in very good shape, sharp and ready to use. No rust, no pitting, no cracks, straight, not bent, flat on the bottom. We do note some dings on the outside of the socket, considered to by minor. The handle is in very good condition and appears to be ash w/leather cap end, very solid, clean, fits good.
