This is a well made serrated edge bread knife with a 4.24" long blade that is marked rather lightly "MERIDEN CUTLERY PAT. JUNE 20 1870".  It is still amazingly sharp and in good condition, looks very nice with a nice patina on the steel and on the twin rosewood handle sides.  The hanging hole with chain installed, the hole is original to the design.  (Some have leather instead of chain).  The rosewood handle is very nice, well attached, not lose.  A rare British kitchen collectible!
