This is a great old match safe that is in the shape of an old keg or barrel. It is made of brass and reads "MATCHES" on the front label. It is quality made with a good tight seal on the lid to the base, the hinge is also brass and works very smoothly. It has a brass bottom inside and holds matches about 1 1/2" long or shorter. There is a stiker plate on the bottom, and on the underside/inside top. It is not completely round as it has seen many years of use and has some small dent that give it character, mostly on the bottom ring. The brass is faily thick so the piece has a nice weight and feel. There appears to have been two handles on the side, one of which remains. I have not seen another one like it in over 10 years.
