This is a nice 10" antique cast steel firm joint outside caliper that is in very good working condition with about an 8" capacity (a bit more depending on your application), and will close to 0 also. Firm joint means that the caliper will hold the position you set it in with a pre-set pressure on the pivot joint. In this case the joint is working correctly, hold position set, yet is adjustable. There is no maker or owner's marks on this gauge. The cast steel frame is painted with a black textured paint. There is a few small areas of paint loss on them, no rust. A good user!
