Offering this top quality carving mallet.  It's weighs in at 2.9 pounds and is very well made.  The wrapped and compressed layers of leather makes for a very firm strike with little or no bounce, just land the blow and all that energy remains at the strike point, but is soft enough to not make a mark if using on a hardwood cabinet assembly for example.  The final wrap around the 3.5"diameter is very dense as sort of put a finish seal on the dense wrapping of the rest of the layers.  There is a few rubs, scrapes and small pieces of the top layer missing but it is not much wear, still hours of good used left in this amazing antique mallet.  Can be used for wood carving or chisel work even assembly work.  A very solid tool!
