This is a very nice 19th century gouge chisel marked "S.J. ADDIS LONDON". A very nice regular sweep gouge chisel. The steel measure 4.6" long from the sharp cutting edge(out-channel), to the handle. The handle is a unique 8 sided shape, with a brass ferrule, no cracks in the wood, very nice looking, very solid, very little wear, very nice. The steel is very clean, no rust, sharp and ready to use, very little wear. A top quality chisel that has lasted many years!  Using a comparison chart, the gouge sweep or arc on this chisel is a No. 5.
