This is a nice 19th century hand tool called an adjustable throat leather shave. It is marked "SNELL & ATHERTON S5" on the steel. It is sharp and ready to use. Very little sign of use on the cutting edge and steel area. No rust, no damage. The handle is solid, has a leather add on tap at the end of the handle, to hang the tool on the wall. Measures 5.75" long overall. The total cutting edge is about 4.5" wide. A nice hard to find 1800's era leather shave!
