This is a nice clean block plane with the 1 5/8" wide cutter x 7" long. It is marked "STANLEY SW MADE IN U.S.A." on the cutter, with the Sweet Heart logo, and "STANLEY"; on the spring cap cover. A nice looking plane with about 90% of it's original black Japanning, and nickel plating intact, very clean bare metal surfaces, and a good working adjustable throat, lateral, and cutter adjustments. The cutter is at 20 degrees (low angle) on this plane, and the cutter is sharp, ready to use with plenty of stock left for future sharpening. No. 17 is very similar to the No. 9 1/2 except this plane is one inch longer. The No. 17 is much more rare than the No. 9 1/2 model. A real nice plane overall!
