This is a very clean Stanley No. 220 block plane with a 1-5/8 inch wide cutter that is marked PENNCRAFT 9529 neatly stamped on it. In comparison to a No. 220 setting side by side it's basically the same with no STANLEY NO. 220 cast lettering around the front knob. The MADE IN U.S.A. under the cutter adjustment screw is there on the PENNCRAFT in the exact same place. It's 7 inches long just like the No. 220. This PENNCRAFT is in very nice condition, very little wear if any, most of the Japanning still intact. PENNCRAFT was a trade name carried by J.C. PENNEY CO. a retail chain that had selected tool made by US manufactures specially for them. This is a nice example of one of those quality tool Penney's offered.
