Description
Victorian Blown Glass Egg 2 3/4 inches Brooding Egg.
Originally this was a 19th century Brooding Egg. I was told glass eggs like these weren't created for decorative purposes. They were used by farmers to stimulate birds to begin laying their own eggs. Supposedly, a bird that wasn't producing eggs sometimes needed a little push, and a glass egg would be inserted into the nest.
This item was decoratively painted at one time and there is only traces of paint remaining on this egg. True to the color of white milk glass. No chips No cracks. Just as pictured. Could use as a brooding egg if needed, but could also clean off paint and use for crafting. A unique item
