Vintage Westminster Abbey Cup Mug RWL London made in England. Best guess Circa 1940s to 1950s.
This mug cup features the Westminster Abbey. Great architecture, amazing details and history make Westminster Abbey one of London's most famous landmarks.
Note: Westminster Abbey is an Anglican Church, whereas Westminster Cathedral is a Roman Catholic one. They are two separate buildings.
No Chips or Cracks, but the glaze has heavy crazing.
Marked on bottom in black RWL London. Embossed on bottom reads, Made in England.
Height 3 1/2 inch X 4 1/4 inch rim to edge of handle With rim being 3 1/8 inch across center.
Backside of cup reads, Westminster Abbey, where some of our most illustrious men and women are buried was built by Henry III Work beginning in 1245. Intended mainly as a sovereigns burial place it was also a tribute to Edward the Confessor, of this earlier church, this is a reconstruction. The scene of countless Royal weddings, funerals, all England's Kings and Queens since William the conqueror, have held their coronations here. It is here that we see surrounded by crimson flanders, poppies, the Unknown Warrior's Tomb.
