Manufacturer: Papago
Two very nice Native American baskets. Both for one price. I believe these are both Papago baskets. I purchased a tiny Papapgo basket in AZ about 35 years ago and the fibers match these. The first is a lovely lidded basket. It is tightly woven; well-made. It is 5 inches tall x 5 wide. It is not sweet grass, some other type of grass. The other basket is also nicely made with yucca and some other type of grass fiber. It is 10.75 wide. A virtually identical basket is shown on pg. 63 of S. Turnbaugh's book. This basket is 11 wide; nice condition; just a couple of the fibers torn. It is not antique, but does have a somewhat aged patina on it. These came from a collector's estate in MI. If you've ever been to a Pow Wow or a NA store, you know how much these baskets cost. They are hand made by very skilled craftspeople. 5/14
