This is a top quality machinist precision inside micrometer set in it's original padded metal and foam padding case. It is the medium size set (1-8"capacity with extra threaded end adapter rod) that Starrett made here in the USA, and is marked "STARRETT NO. 124" on the micrometer. The set is complete with all it's parts and includes the adapter that allows the user to measure 1" less than one could with the longer standard end rod (a rather expensive option to this set). The tool is in very good condition, with very little wear, no rust or damage, and no owner's names or marks on the tool, a few minor stains in non-precision areas. This is a .001" graduation micrometer, with .50" travel, so a .500" spacer is supplied as the rods are in 1.0" increments. The case is worn, but clean inside with black foam lining. The exterior has some scuffs and some edge areas where the maroon fabric is faded more than in other places, but for the most part the outside is in good condition with good hinges and a good working spring hinge to keep the box closed. Still a good usable precision micrometer! There is evidence of past quality control inspection as there is dabs of a removeable industrial glue to prevent tampering with adjustments made by the inspection dept.. None of these interfere with the precision or use of this micrometer and rods.
