This is a unique, special purpose antique mechanical arm or gripper pliers. It has no maker's name on it, but has a patent date clearly stamped "PATD' DEC.11.1928" on the curved solid jaw, outside frame. It is 39" long overall, with about 34 inches of extended reach. It has one solid jaw, made of good solid press formed steel. The moving jaw is cast steel, attached to a spring loaded return to open position, trigger rod next to the handle area, for ease of use. Truly a unique tool, we have not seen another one like it in the past 15 years. It is in great shape, good straight shaft, jaws are in nice shape with serrated jaws. The trigger mechanism works great. We are not sure what use this great old patented tool may have served, or been designed for, but it is at least an interesting conversation piece!
