Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: 1920's-30's
Condition: Very Good
Manufacturer: UNION HARDWARE COMPANY TORRINGTON CONN
This is a nice clean 1/4" wide x 11" long socket bevel chisel marked "MFG. BY UNION HARDWARE COMPANY TORRINGTON CONN." on the steel (the Union logo is a bit hard to read as there is an oblong shape right through the UNION name and inside the oblong is, HARDWARE CO. mark. This is a very good quality, that has a good sharp cutting edge ready to use, very clean, no rust. The steel is clean and flat, no rust or pitting. The steel alone is 6.7" long. The hardwood handle is very nice, solid, with a good leather cap ring at the end, some minor wear, but in good working order. Plenty of use left in this nice clean, sharp, ready to use, quality made firmer chisel! This chisel is marked with the UNION HARDWARE CO. TORRINGTON CT. U.S.A. mark, and we know they were manufacturing tools in the 1870's, but we don't see any history of this company after the 1880's. A very nicely made antique chisel!
